Team Tecnifibre is set to take center stage on one of tennis’ biggest venues. Dennis Kudla, one of the US young guns, drew Roger Federer for his second match at Indian Wells. In his first match, he took down Tobias Kamke in a three set battle.

The “Prime Time” spot light is shining bright on Team Tecnifibre this weekend in the SoCal Desert. Be sure to tune in:

Tipsarevic Wins Doubles, Reaches Singles Final in Chennai

Coming off a great second half of the 2011 season, Tecnifibre Team Member and world #9 Janko Tipsarevic continued his winning ways this past week in Chennai, India. Janko entered the Chennai Open, an ATP 250 event, as the #1 seed in singles and the #3 seed in Singles, partnered with Leander Paes. Tipsarevic, (T-Fight 325 VO2 Max & Black Code Strings) cruised into the quarterfinals of singles with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Yuki Bhambri. He then earned a 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 victory over David Goffin, who defeated 7th seeded Xavier Malisse in the first round.  Janko punched his ticket into the final with a 6-1, 6-4 win against Go Soeda. In the finals, Tipsarevic battled for over 3 hours against Canadian Milos Raonic, the #4 seed. Janko ultimately fell 6-7, 7-6, 7-6 in a match that was instantly described as an “epic battle” on atpworldtour.com.

‘”Guys like Milos are special players,” said Tipsarevic. “It was a great game of tennis. Nobody knew till the end who would win. Unluckily for me it was I who lost. It was just a matter of a few points here and there. Hopefully next time I will get the better of him.”‘ (atpworldtour.com)

Janko somehow bounced back from this marathon match and took the court with Leander Paes to have another shot at winning a title. The duo earned a 6-4, 6-4 win over the #4 seeds, Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram. Janko and Leander also defeated the tournmanents #2 seed in the semifinals. Click here for more on the doubles final.

The Chennai Open marked Janko’s 4th singles final (with 2 titles!) in the past year, and his 6th overall, and it was his first ATP doubles title! Congratulations to Janko for starting off the year with some great tennis and we wish him the best of luck in the upcoming Australian Open!

Janko Reaches Final of ATP 250 at St. Petersburg Open

Just 1 week after earning his second career title at the Kremlin Cup, Janko Tipsarevic continued his great year by reaching the finals at the St. Petersburg Open. Held in St. Petersburg, Russia, the ATP 250 included 2 top 10 players and featured a 32 draw. Janko (T-Fight 325 & VO2 Max) entered as the #2 seed (behind Gilles Simon). Tipsarevic defeated Olivier Rochus 6-2, 7-5 in the first round and led Michael Berrer 6-3, 2-0 before Berrer retired. In the quarterfinals Janko defeated Potito Starace 6-7, 6-2, 6-1, and rolled through #7 seed Alex Bogomolov 6-2, 6-1 in the semifinals. In the finals, Janko came up just short against #4 seed Marin Cilic, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.

Istomin Wins Another Challenger in Tashkent

Denis is 10-0 in his last 10 matches!

Playing in his home country of Uzbekistan, Tecnifibre TEAM member Denis Istomin won his 4th straight challenger this past week. Denis (T-Fight 325 & Red Code) fought through a tough first round match by defeating Uladzimir Ignatik 3-6, 6-3, 7-6. Heading into the second round, Denis began to roll through the draw, and did not drop another set en route to the title. He defeated Jurgen Zopp 6-3, 6-4 in the final. Denis entered the tournament as the #3 seed, with a world ranking of #97; with the title he moved up to #78.

Denis Istomin Wins Istanbul $100,000 Challenger

Tecnifibre TEAM member Denis Istomin won the $100,000 Challenger in Istanbul this past week. Istomin (T-Fight 325 & Red Code) entered the tournament seeded fifth; he defeated Uladzimir Ingatik from Belarus in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 in the first round. In the second round, Denis outplayed Yannick Mertens from Belgium with the score 6-4, 6-2; then in the quarterfinals he beat second seeded Mikhail Kukushkin 6-1, 6-3. Denis then defeated Lithuanian Richard Berankis with the score 7-6(3), 7-6(3) to book his spot in final. In the championship match he beat world #45 Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany 6-4, 6-4. Congratulations Denis!

Janko Leads TEAM Tecnifibre at U.S. Open

Janko Tipsarevic made an impressive run to the quarterfinals of the years’ final major, and solidified his new position in the world’s top 20. Janko (T-Fight 325 & Black Code) defeated world #9 Thomas Berdych and former world #1 Juan Carlos Ferrero before falling to eventual Champion and fellow Serbian Novak Djokovic. Also at the Open, Bjorn Fratangelo, Mitchell Krueger, and Shane Vinsant competed in the Boy’s draw. Bjorn (T-Fight 325 & Black Code) entered the tournament seeded third, and cruised through his first two matches before running into a red hot Oliver Golding. (Golding went on to win the title after defeating Bjorn 7-5, 3-6, 6-3.) Bjorn partnered with Alex Halebian and won one main draw match in doubles. Mitchell (T-Fight 325 & Black Code) and Shane (T-Fight 325 & Black Code) paired up to win a doubles match, and Mitchell posted a win over the #7 seed in singles.

In the Girl’s draw, Sachia Vickery (T-Fight 295 & X-Code) won her first two matches with ease before falling to eventual champion Caroline Garcia 6-4, 6-4.

Gisela Dulko was also in action. Dulko (Rebound Pro & X-One Biphase) defeated Rebecca Marino 6-3, 6-3 before falling to #4 seed Victoria Azarenka 6-3, 6-4. Gisela paired up with Flavia Pennetta to reach the third round of doubles.

Denis Istomin (T-Fight 325 & Pro Red Code) also added a main draw win in the men’s singles and doubles.

Janko Into U.S. Open Quarterfinals

Janko Tipsarevic (T-Fight 325 & Black Code) has reached his first grand slam quarterfinal, and continues his great summer of hard-court tennis. After defeated world #9 Thomas Berdych in the 3rd round, Janko defeated former French Open Champion and World #1 Juan Carlos Ferrero in the round of 16, 7-5, 6-7, 7-5, 6-2. Janko entered the tournament as the #20 seed, and is currently at his career high ranking of #20 in the world. He will now face fellow Serb, and current world #1 Novak Djokovic. Congrats to Janko on a great tournament thus far, and good luck in the quarters!

Janko Reaches Roger’s Semis, Breaks into Top 20

With his sixth ATP  Semifinal this year and his first in an ATP Master 1000, Janko Tipsarevic  (T-Fight 325 VO2 Max & Black Code Strings) reached the ATP top 20 for the first time in his career!

Indeed, after victories against A. Falla (#103 ATP), F. Verdasco (#21 ATP), I. Dodig (#36 ATP) and T. Berdych (#9 ATP), he lost against M.Fish (#7 ATP) in the semifinals 6-3, 6-4 at the Rogers Cup (Montréal – ATP World Tour Masters 1000). After this great result, Janko tells journalists that he hopes to join the Top 10 in the world rankings! Congratulations Janko!
