Coming off a great second half of the 2011 season, Tecnifibre Team Member and world #9 Janko Tipsarevic continued his winning ways this past week in Chennai, India. Janko entered the Chennai Open, an ATP 250 event, as the #1 seed in singles and the #3 seed in Singles, partnered with Leander Paes. Tipsarevic, (T-Fight 325 VO2 Max & Black Code Strings) cruised into the quarterfinals of singles with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Yuki Bhambri. He then earned a 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 victory over David Goffin, who defeated 7th seeded Xavier Malisse in the first round.Ā Janko punched his ticket into the final with a 6-1, 6-4 win against Go Soeda. In the finals, Tipsarevic battled for over 3 hours against Canadian Milos Raonic, the #4 seed. Janko ultimately fell 6-7, 7-6, 7-6 in a match that was instantly described as an “epic battle” on atpworldtour.com.

Janko somehow bounced back from this marathon match and took the court with Leander Paes to have another shot at winning a title. The duo earned a 6-4, 6-4 win over the #4 seeds, Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram. Janko and Leander also defeated the tournmanents #2 seed in the semifinals. Click here for more on the doubles final.

The Chennai Open marked Janko’s 4th singles final (with 2 titles!) in the past year, and his 6th overall, and it was his first ATP doubles title!
