Tecnifibre TEAM USA member Mitchell Krueger was recently featured on tennisrecruiting.net. Mitchell talks about his approach to the college recruiting process and his possible choices for school. Mitchell has had a great 2011 ITF season, which has included titles at the Aukland Summer Championships and the Pan American ITF Championships. Mitchell is currently ranked #16 in the ITF rankings; he uses the T-Fight 325 and Black Code Strings. Congratulations to Mitchell on his great year, and good luck on finding a program that fits you well!

Krueger Wins 2011 Pan American ITF Championships

Tecnifibre TEAM USA member Mitchell Krueger won the Pan American ITF Championships last week. The tournament was a grade B1 hard-court event held in Tulsa, Oklahoma from October 11-15. The tournament consisted mainly of Americans, Mexicans, and Canadians, but also had players from Central and South America.

Mitchell (T-Fight 325 & Black Code), who is from Texas, entered the tournament as the top seed and won easily in his first round match, 6-0, 6-1. In the second round, Krueger dropped his only set of the tournament and rallied to earn a convincing 3-6, 6-0, 6-2 win over Samuel Monette. Mitchell cruised through his next 3 matches, with his closest set being 6-2. In the final, Mitchell defeated wildcard Noah Rubin, 6-4, 6-1.

Mitchell also reached the semifinals in doubles. He and Connor Farren entered the tournament as the #1 seeded team and won their first two matches before losing to the number four seeds, Monette/Peliwo, a Canadian team, who went on to win the tournament.

With this great result, Mitchell moved up to a new career high world ranking of #15.

Lorenzo Lorusso Wins Fall Super Series

Tecnifibre TEAM USA member Lorenzo Lorusso recently won the Fall Classic Super Series in Coral Gables, Florida. Lorenzo (T-Flash 300 & Black Code) entered the tournament as the #4 seed and had to fight through some tough matches on his way to the title. The tournament was a Boy’s 12&Under event held on the Hard Courts at the Biltmore, Coral Gables. Lorenzo’s biggest challenge in the tournament came in the third round against Randy Wilson, where Lorenzo had to come back from a set down; he ultimately won the match 5-7, 6-2, 10-5.

Madregallejo and Krueger in Action at Napa Valley Tennis Classic

Team members Mitchell Krueger and Nikko Madregallejo both represented TEAM Tecnifibre with wins at the Napa Valley Tennis Classic. The event is a tournament where the USTA fields some of its best Juniors against some of the top NCAA Division I players in the country. A few of the teams that participated were Notre Dame, UCLA, California, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. Nikko (T-Fight 325 & Black Code) posted wins over Notre Dame’s Casey Watt (#28 ITA) and Tulsa’s Grant Ive. Mitchell (T-Fight 325 & Black Code) posted a win over Notre Dame’s Niall Fitzgerald 6-7, 6-1, 6-1.

Janko Leads TEAM Tecnifibre at U.S. Open

Janko Tipsarevic made an impressive run to the quarterfinals of the years’ final major, and solidified his new position in the world’s top 20. Janko (T-Fight 325 & Black Code) defeated world #9 Thomas Berdych and former world #1 Juan Carlos Ferrero before falling to eventual Champion and fellow Serbian Novak Djokovic. Also at the Open, Bjorn Fratangelo, Mitchell Krueger, and Shane Vinsant competed in the Boy’s draw. Bjorn (T-Fight 325 & Black Code) entered the tournament seeded third, and cruised through his first two matches before running into a red hot Oliver Golding. (Golding went on to win the title after defeating Bjorn 7-5, 3-6, 6-3.) Bjorn partnered with Alex Halebian and won one main draw match in doubles. Mitchell (T-Fight 325 & Black Code) and Shane (T-Fight 325 & Black Code) paired up to win a doubles match, and Mitchell posted a win over the #7 seed in singles.

In the Girl’s draw, Sachia Vickery (T-Fight 295 & X-Code) won her first two matches with ease before falling to eventual champion Caroline Garcia 6-4, 6-4.

Gisela Dulko was also in action. Dulko (Rebound Pro & X-One Biphase) defeated Rebecca Marino 6-3, 6-3 before falling to #4 seed Victoria Azarenka 6-3, 6-4. Gisela paired up with Flavia Pennetta to reach the third round of doubles.

Denis Istomin (T-Fight 325 & Pro Red Code) also added a main draw win in the men’s singles and doubles.

Denis Kudla (T-Fight 325) won two tough matches in the qualifying draw before falling short in the final round. Click here for more.

Kypson Featured on TennisRecruiting.net

Coming off of a great summer of tournaments, Tecnifibre TEAM USA Member Patrick Kypson has been featured on tennisrecruiting.net, as one of the top players in the 6th-grade class. Patrick (T-Flash 300 & Duramix HD) reached the finals of the USTA Clay Court Championships and the semifinals of the USTA Summer Championships. Check out the article at here. TEAM Tecnifibre at USTA National Championships

TEAM Tecnifibre USA had another great week of USTA junior tennis at the recent USTA National Championships held across the country. The summer championships, which is the largest USTA tournament of the year, was played in all age divisions for girls and boys.

TEAM Tecnifibre’s top performers included Nikko Madregallejo (B16), Patrick Kypson (B12), Bjorn Fratangelo (B18), Sachia Vickery (G18), Alex Rotsaert (B12), Dane Webb (B18), Jake Van Emburgh (B12), Shane Vinsant (B18), and Mitchell Krueger (B18).

Nikko Madregallejo (T-Fight 325 & Black Code) reached the semifinals of singles after entering the tournament seeded 6th. He lost to the eventual champion and second seeded Ronnie Schneider 6-1, 6-2. Nikko was coming off a few long matches, including a third-set-tiebreak victory in the quarterfinals. Nikko added a round of 16 appearance in doubles with partner Thai Kwiatowski.

Patrick Kypson (T-Flash 300 & Duramix HD) added another great result to a year full of success. Patrick entered the singles seeded 4th, and made it all the way to the semifinals where he lost to Alex Del Corral. Alex was seeded 2nd and went on the went on to win the championship match 6-2, 6-2. (Patrick and Alex recently teamed up and represented Team USA at the Coupe la Blanc. Story.) Patrick and Alex also continued their success in doubles by reaching the championship match before falling to Sam Riffice and noah Schachter 6-2, 3-6, 7-5.

Also in the Boy’s 12′s, Team Tecnifibre saw great results from Jake Van Emburgh and Alex Rotsaert. Alex (T-Fight 295 & Black Code/Duramix HD) reached the Round of 16 in singles where he lost to fellow team member Patrick Kypson. Alex also lost a tough doubles match in a super-tiebreaker to Patrick in the Quarterfinals of doubles. Jake (T-Fight 295 & X-One Biphase) reached the round of 32 where he ran into the eventual champion Alex del Corral. Jake also made it to the round of 16 in doubles.

In the Girls 18′s, Sachia Vickery (T-Fight 295 & X-Code), who has been busy playing on the Women’s professional circuit, reached the quarterfinals of singles where she lost to #4 seed Nicole Gibbs.

At the infamous site of the Boy’s 18′s National championships, Kalamazoo, Team Tecnifibre USA had a number of good results. Going into the event, 3 out of the top 8 seeds were wielding Tecnifibre Rackets. Bjorn Fratangelo and Dane Webb led the charge, both reaching the round of 16 in singles, and the quarterfinals of doubles. Bjorn (T-Fight 325 & Black Code) partnered with Alex Halebian in doubles while Dane (T- Fight 325 & Black Code) partnered with fellow TEAM member Mitchell Krueger. Mitchell (T-Fight 325 & Black Code) reached the round of 32 in singles where he lost to Hunter Callahan. Shane Vinsant (T-Fight 325 & Red Code) had a disappointing tournament after spraining his ankle and falling in the 3rd round of singles, (he entered the even seeded 6th). He did, however, manage to fight his way to the round of 16 in doubles with partner Spencer Newman.
